Not entirely 4WD related, but Toyota is celebrating the 25th consecutive year it has topped annual new car sales in New Zealand. The company has sold more than 430,800 new vehicles here over the past 25 years, more than 22,000 of them in 2012. "One massive change has been the rise of the SUV market," the company noted. Twenty-five years ago sales were dominated by sedans, hatchbacks and wagons. They sold just 48 SUVs, or 4WDs as they were known in ’87. Last year, Toyota sold more than 4000. Note to 4wdNewz's overseas visitors: hey, this might all sound like peanuts to you, but they're big numbers for us!
