For the second year running the rather decent Chrysler 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel in the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been named one of Ward’s Ten Best Engines in the World. It was the only diesel to make the new list. A Wards spokesman says: “It is as quiet and smooth as the diesels we’ve been testing in luxury cars, delivers 570Nm of torque, and works in perfect harmony with the standard eight speed transmission to deliver 6.5 litres per 100km on highway.” The diesel Grand Cherokee has a braked towing rating of 3500kg and a trailer tongue weight of up to 350kg. It'll run zero to 100km/h in just over eight seconds and tops out at 202km/h.
My neighbour across the road has one and its given him nothing but trouble.
