Economics 101: the importance of market size

With the recent announcement of the new aluminium-bodied Ford F-150 came the rather amazing statistic that, last year, a '150 was sold every 41 seconds. By comparison, Toyota sells a Hilux – our top selling utility – at a rate of about one every one-and-three-quarter hours! In that time, Ford would have moved more than 150 F-150s.
