An extreme fire risk is causing early closure of the road through Molesworth Station. The Conservation Department will shut Acheron Road through the historic high country station in South Marlborough from March 12. The route, which opened to the public on December 28, was due to remain open until April 7. DoC says only "sufficient rain to reduce the fire danger" will win a reprieve.
