Fieldays 2015: Mahindra adds some spice

It's such a shame that the Mahindra Thar, which traces its roots to the Jeep CJ3, is not able to be registered for the street as it would make a great, inexpensive enthusiast vehicle. It is, however, providing some farm-use competition for the Suzuki Farm Workers and when fitted with tractor tyres provides some pretty decent  performance, some of which was demonstrated on the Mahindra track.
Visitors inspect the Thar's workings, specifically the 77kW/247Nm diesel.
A Pik-Up exposes its 2.2 litre turbo diesel that produces 280Nm of torque, well behind its Japanese rivals.
