Discovery Sport: nearly 80 grand and you don't even get low range gearing!

4wdNewz usually only deals with low-range vehicles, but notes in passing that Land Rover has released New Zealand pricing of the Discovery Sport, which replaces Freelander and is based on the Evoque. We get two trim levels, SE and HSE with the 177kW Si4 2.0-litre turbo petrol and two turbo diesels. The 2.2 diesels are available in either 110kW TD4 or 140kW SD4 spec, producing 400Nm and 420Nm respectively. All versions have a ZF 9HP48 nine speed automatic. Prices start at $78,500 for the 110kW TD4 SE diesel while the top HSE, with either the 140kW SD4 diesel or 177kW Si4 petrol powertrain, costs from $89,500.
