Toyota tweaks the Prado

Toyota has tweaked the Prado, with a modest external facelift and equipment changes including Trailer Sway Control that helps the driver retain control in a towing emergency. There’s also an Emergency Stop Signal system that flashes the brake lights under hard braking to alert following traffic of a potential incident. Daytime Running Lights become standard on all models.

The spare wheel on entry-level GX (shown in the photos) has been moved from the rear door to under the boot floor, and the VX and VX Limited now include a four-camera Multi-terrain Monitor system. VX Limited adds a Blind Spot Monitor. The GX adds privacy glass and roof rails. Inside is new switchgear and instrumentation, along with new fabrics and interior colours.

VXs can be upgraded to incorporate a SUNA Live Traffic Management GPS-enabled JBL premium audio and navigation package. All models have new alloy wheel designs. Prices start at $84,195 for the 3.0 GX turbo diesel and top out with the 3.0 VX Limited at $109,780. The 4.0 petrol VX costs $94,780.

  1. Too bad they didn't give it a new diesel engine, the current one really sucks.
