The next big thing: UTVs take over where 4WDs leave off

4WD-inclined visitors to Fieldays couldn't help but notice the large number of side-by-side UTVs on show, from the wild Can-Am Maverick X RS to the wildly practical Polaris Ranger, below. As UTVs grow more sophisticated and even more capable, 4wdNewz can't help but wonder whether they're the 4WD enthusiast's future, as low-range gearboxes are progressively axed from mainstream models, their clearances lowered and their bodies made more vulnerable to damage. Too bad the UTVs are not road registerable.
