Factory photo of a G-Professional |
For almost a year, Mercedes has been dangling the carrot of a more
basic G-Class (aka G-Wagen) for the Australian and New Zealand markets. Talking to Mercedes executives today, it seems the holdup has been adapting ESP to the G-Professional, and fitting a passenger airbag. These problems are now apparently sorted. Mercedes says it has to bring the wagon in at under $100,000 in Australia, which would put the New Zealand price north of $120,000.
Here's an
earlier item on the G-Class. And have a look at
this.
$120k for THAT !!!??? Buy a Landcruiser 70 LX and save fifty grand.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe $40,000 ... and you'll need to add the optional difflocks (standard on the Merc). And it all depends on what discount the Toyota dealer is prepared to offer. Plus, the Toyota's not available with automatic. But you're right: the existence of the 70 is the G-Professional's biggest problem!
ReplyDeleteG Wagens make Defender look sick. Bring then on!
ReplyDeleteGet them in NZ for $100,000 and I'll buy one.
ReplyDeleteAdding to my comment above, the G is in another class to the LandCruiser 70.
