Southern Safari: the long and winding (off) road

The 4wdNewz JK, keen to get started, was second in line for the
southbound Interislander – one that said with a contingent
of North Island entrants.
The first Southern Safari (click the bold type for link to earlier item), organised by the New Zealand Four Wheel Drive Association, starts on Labour Day at Spring Creek, near Blenheim, and ends up a couple of weeks later in Invercargill, after a visit to Bluff. This promises to be quite an adventure, even though it's not supposed to need a vehicle with a three-inch body lift, twin lockers and 35-inch Centipedes. On the other hand, if the weather turns bad participants may be wishing that's what they had. 4wdNewz is on the trip and will be reporting daily, depending on wifi access, so why wait a couple of months to see reports in the 4WD press?

  1. Nice, I was planning on doing the trip, even got my two weeks off approved. But had to cancel last minute. Looking forward to your updates on how it goes!
